I am delighted to announce that for the first time, Peggy, Jenny and I were able to welcome wheelchair user and local legend Ian Dixon on to our green. He absolutely loved it, although he was fast asleep within a minute of getting home!
Ian tried forehand one way & backhand the other. Already his line on both hands is good & in time and with practice, his length will improve. However, for his first time on the grass, he did very well.
At the end of the session, I presented Ian with his club shirt & he was really chuffed with his afternoon out, with many more to follow.
Whilst you can see the wheelchair lines on the rink, these lines are no worse than those made by the bowls collectors & there is absolutely no damage to the green.
Ian hopes to attend as many of our Monday roll ups as possible, so it is vital that everyone please adheres to Steve’s hosting rota.
